Landmannalaugar is one of the most popular spot in the highlands. It is well known for its stunning landscapes, including colorful rhyolite mountains, hot springs, and lava fields.
There are a lot of trails in this area, including the famous Laugavegur trek, which takes about four days to complete and leads hikers through diverse landscapes such as mountains, glaciers, and hot springs.
Landmannalaugar is only accessible during the summer (usually from June to September) and requires a 4x4 vehicle to drive on rugged terrain. You will have to cross some rivers. Renting a Land Cruiser or a similar vehicle is not an option.
